Lockdown March 2021: The Second Wave Of Covid Hits

The second cycle of the COVID explosion seems to gain momentum in India, the number of cases just doubled in the past 25 days. As per the recent reports, Maharashtra alone accounts for more than 58 percent of the total active cases in the country. Due to the spike in the covid cases, the government of different states has imposed a lockdown and night curfew in some areas keeping in mind the upcoming Holi festival on the 29th of this month.

Madhya Pradesh Lockdown:

The state government of Madhya Pradesh has decided to impose a lockdown in three major cities of Bhopal, Indore, and Jabalpur on Sunday, March 21. The schools and colleges will also remain closed in these three cities till 31 March as per the government decision.

Maharashtra Lockdown:

Amid a rising number of novel coronavirus cases a week-long lockdown from March 15 to 21 has been imposed in Nagpur, during this period, essential services will be staying operational. A night curfew has also been imposed in Pune and Nasik.

The government offices in Nagpur will function with only a 25 percent capacity. A night curfew has been imposed in Pune from 11 pm to 6 am. Schools and colleges to remain shut till March 31. Hotels, bars, malls, and theatres will remain shut from 10 pm to 6 am during the night curfew. Gardens will be closed in the evening.

In Nasik, a night curfew has been imposed from 7 pm to 7 am. A cap of 25-30 peoples at weddings and events, after March 15 no marriages in halls. However, hotels can remain open from 7 am till 9 pm with 50% capacity. Schools will remain closed. Religious places remain closed on Saturday and Sunday.

Rajasthan Lockdown:

Given the increasing cases, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has also decided to impose a night curfew. The government has decided to impose a night curfew in eight cities of the state. Markets will not open after 10:00 pm in the urban areas of the state.

The Rajasthan government has decided that from March 25, it will be mandatory for all travelers coming from outside of the state to get the covid test done 72 hours before. This rule will apply to people coming from all states.

Punjab Night curfew:

A night curfew has been imposed in Patiala, Ludhiana, Mohali, and Fatehgarh Sahib.

Uttarakhand Lockdown:

On Sunday Dehradun district magistrate (DM) Ashish Kumar Srivastava announced a complete lockdown in Mussoorie’s Galway Cottage area and St. George’s School, Barlow Ganj area and declared them containment zones. As per the order, all shops and offices will be closed till further announcements and only one person from a family will be allowed to out to purchase essential items.

Due to the surge in the covid cases in the county government has also cut down on the supply of the vaccine to other countries. The second wave might prove to be all the worse as a lot of positive cases shows the UK variant in their reports. We suggest you stay home, stay safe, and take all the necessary precautions.
