Leonardo DiCaprio Gave Money To Burn the Amazon Forest, Says Brazil’s President

Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has made a shocking allegation when he accused Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio as the prime suspect of the fires in Amazon Rainforest. Bolsonaro has said that DiCaprio gave money to set the Amazon on fire.

Jair Bolsonaro has also said that the NGOs actually started the fire in Amazon to obtain funding from all over the world.

Four volunteer firefighters were arrested earlier, who claimed that they started the fires in the forest to create a situation where NGOs could collection donations from people concerned about the environment.

However, the NGOs have said that the police action against them has ulterior political motives, and the right-wing government in Brazil is harrassing them.

This Friday on his presidential residence, he made a brief remark without any evidence where he made accusations against not only Leonardo DiCaprio but also World Wildlife Fund (WWF), and many other NGOs.

About DiCaprio, he said:

This Leonardo DiCaprio is a cool guy, right? Giving money to torch the Amazon.

He also said that WWF and other NGOs were part of a huge conspiracy to defame him and work against Brazil: “So what did the NGO do? What is the easiest thing? Set fire to the forest. Take pictures, make a video. [WWF] makes a campaign against Brazil, it contacts Leonardo DiCaprio, he donates $500,000. A part of that went to the people that were setting fires. Leonardo DiCaprio, you are contributing to the fire in the Amazon, that won’t do.”

Although WWF has denied that it has anything to do with the arsonists.

Leonardo DiCaprio, who had made a $5 million donation to the NGOs earlier, has denied that he was paying for starting the fires. Although he did try to get out of any involvement with the NGOs which are getting harrassed by the fascist right-wing regime in Brazil.

Although they are certainly worth supporting, we have not funded the organisations that are currently under attack.

“The future of these irreplaceable ecosystems is at stake and I am proud to be part of the groups that protect them.” He added.

WWF has said that they haven’t received any money from DiCaprio since he already has an NGO of his own, the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation.

Brazilian President is getting trolled now

Senator Randolfe Rodrigues tweeted:

How desperate. Our negligent and incompetent president, who is responsible for unprecedented environmental dismantling, blames DiCaprio but not his own administration which is incapable of taking a single step without destroying something.

Who really started the fires?

In August, Amazon was burning at an alarming rate as it caused a severe damage to the Earth’s ecosystem, while melting the Andes glacier in South America.

While the liberal and right-wing media unanimously blamed the farmers and loggers for the fires, saying that they were burning the forest to clear land for crops and grazing – the truth was revealed by indigenous tribes who live in the Amazon rainforest. The fires were originally started by big oil companies who wanted to exploit the resources of the forest and displace the natives as well.
