Just like death, wisdom tooth too is inevitable. It is a third set of molars in the back of your mouth that erupt from the jaw between the ages of 17 and 25. The process is excruciatingly painful, but also important for chewing mechanism. Wisdom tooth ache is unbearable and can make your life miserable until you go to a dentist and get some medicine. Until then, here are a few ways how to deal with a toothache and make your life a little less miserable.
1. Saltwater
The easiest remedy to get relief from toothache is rinsing your mouth with saltwater. Add a spoonful of sodium chloride to lukewarm water and do multiple rinses. The salt not only kills harmful bacteria and also promotes healthy gums.
2. Aloe Vera
Toothache is one of the times when that aloe vera plant in your home comes to the rescue. Aloe vera is non-toxic and reduces inflammation in the area around wisdom tooth. Cut a strip from aloe vera, make a slit, and scoop out all the sap from it. Apply this sap on the area of inflammation. It will temporarily soothe your pain.

3. Menthol
A natural analgesic, menthol provides quick relief to toothache. The cooling sensation that you get from your toothpaste or mouthwash is from menthol. Mix a bit of menthol with mouthwash and rinse your mouth with it.
4. Turmeric
The analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties of turmeric make it an effective remedy against toothache. Rub crushed turmeric in the area of pain or boil 5 g of turmeric with two cloves in water and rinse your mouth with it

The essential oils in the peppermint extract reduce inflammation and soothe the pain. Use a cotton ball to apply oil in the affected areas or rinse your mouth with peppermint tea once it has cooled off.

6. Oregano Oil
There are studies that suggest that oregano oil has great potential as a remedy against toothache. The carvacrol in oregano provides relief from pain and reduces swelling and inflammation. Mix a drop of oregano oil with a teaspoon of carrier oil. Dab a cotton ball in it and apply it to your gums and teeth for relief.
7. Clove oil
There cannot be a better toothache reliever in your kitchen than cloves. Not only it soothes the pain but it also reduces your chance of infection by fighting bacteria growing in your mouth. If you have clove oil in your kitchen, then it’s best or you can boil a few cloves in water to rinse your mouth off with it.
8. Liquor
If nothing helps, then a glass of Brandy it any distilled liquor will because alcohol has a solution for everything. Rubbing whiskey or bourbon on your wisdom tooth will dull the pain receptors and ease your discomfort.
9. Aspirin
Aspirin will not only cure the headache that you got from the wisdom tooth but also the toothache itself. However, take only the recommended amount of dosage to avoid any unpleasant side effects.
10. Wheatgrass
Wheatgrass is a powerful healer for tooth decay and gum wounds. The high chlorophyll content in wheatgrass reduces inflammation and prevents bacteria to grow.
You could also use heat and cold therapy to get some relief from the toothache in case you have any swelling. Apply hot or cold items on the swelling for 15 minutes with breaks. Simply chew the wheat grass or rinse your mouth with its juice to do the trick.
