Food Advertisement Secrets You don’t know!

There’s something about the food advertisements that create hunger pangs so that you crave the food. What you probably didn’t know is that advertisement makers use tricks to make these food items look as delicious as it does. Fun fact, most of those items aren’t even edible. But it does create the “yummy” impact it ought to create.

Here we are, filling you in on some food advertisement secrets. If you want to shoot something little yourself, go right ahead, as long as no one eats it!

1. Shiny Fruits- How do the fruits in the advertisements always look so fresh and shiny? It’s not like they’re always fresh despite the several shots directors take. Secret? They spray deodorant on the fruits that give them the sparkling, fresh from the farm look.

2. Seafood Presentation- When shooting advertisements for restaurants, makers face utmost difficulty since seafood tends to lose its look after a while. So, what do they do? They took in some glycerol, so it looks like it is just out of the kitchen.

3. Melting Ice cream- The lighting used during photography or videography is too much heat for ice cream to handle. It’ll take seconds for it to melt. Unless it’s not really ice cream they use! That’s right. Advertisers use mashed potatoes and color them in the required color for the best pictures. Did you even notice until today that it’s not real ice cream?

4. Whipped cream in food? – Nah! It’s not really whipped cream if it is in an ad. It wouldn’t hold the product so long unless you use shaving cream!

5. Sauce or not? – Most definitely not! The sauces we see in advertisements are made from melted wax, and it’s only to trick us into believing its thick consistency as a sauce.

6. The story behind the steam- Steam emanating from food makes one hungry. The food looks all the more delicious, making people want to have it the next time they can. But it’s not real steam from the food that’s shown in the advertisement. They place a steamer, some cotton balls, or any such similar items and place it behind the food to create that effect.

7. Antacids in Drinks- The fizz in cold drinks doesn’t last once popped out of the bottle. But creating a single shot of advertisement or clicking one perfect picture takes hours. Just before the shot/click, they drop a couple of antacids in the cold drink, so it creates the fizz.

8. Layered Cakes- Have you ever wondered why the cakes we buy outside don’t look the same as in the pictures? It’s because the cakes used in advertisements have layers of cardboard topped with whipped cream or shaving foam to give it the big cake effect.

9. Maple Syrup or Engine Oil? – You guessed it right, engine oil it is. That’s what they drizzle over pancakes to create the perfect syrup-like effect.

To come to think of it, these tricks, are rather very smart. Don’t you think? We’d never catch them unless someone told us like we just did!
