Irrespective of all the tall claims made by the US government and the Indian government – both the countries are still far away from any kind of vaccine.
A few days ago, it was reported that the COVID-19 vaccine under trial is causing severe health issues and now it has been disclosed that a volunteer who took the vaccine has died.
The news was being covered up until the Brazilian health authority Anvisa decided to investigate
According to a press release by the Brazilian health authority Anvisa, the COVID-19 vaccine being developed by AstraZeneca and Oxford University has killed a volunteer. Anvisa said that they received this data only after investigating this matter, otherwise the company AstraZeneca was not giving out any details.
Even after this revelation came out, the press reached out to AstraZeneca but the pharma company has declined to make any comment on this death caused by their vaccine.
They have said that the vaccine trials will continue as they have done till now.
Oxford University has said that: “there have been no concerns about the safety of the clinical trial.” They also declined to comment on the death.

According to the Federal University of Sao Paolo, the person who died was a Brazilian citizen – which is precisely why the Brazilian health authorities decided to investigate into this matter.
While some corporate newspapers have reported that the volunteer died because they were given a placebo and not the actual vaccine, but there is no official confirmation or denial of this claim.
Meanwhile, AstraZeneca’s vaccines were put on a temporary hold after it was discovered that the vaccine is causing a rare spinal inflammatory disorder called transverse myelitis in people.
So this is the cost people will be paying
On the other hand, AstraZeneca is preparing to roll out the vaccines in the US at $3000 per dose while the manufacturing cost for this vaccine only comes at $10 per dose. On top of that, the vaccine research of this private company was actually funded via a government grant using taxpayer money.
So the US citizens have paid the company for the research and now they will pay again for the vaccine at a shamelessly inflated price.
It won’t be any different in any other capitalist country, either.
