Rory McIlroy Wins The FedEx Cup To Take Home $15M, The Largest Cash Payout In Golf History

On Sunday, Rory McIlroy outclassed World No. 1  Brooks Koepka to win the Tour Championship for the second time in four years.

One stroke behind Brooks in the final round, McIlroy took the lead with a three-shot swing at No. 7, to close with an outstanding score of 4-under-66.

How Did This Happen?

For McIlroy this iconic win comes after losing to Tiger Woods in the final pairing last year, when he had finished seventh; and after a more recent loss in Memphis, he played alongside Brooks and was defeated by six strokes.

This time Brooks surged miles ahead, finishing four strokes ahead of Xander Schauffele (70) while Brooks tied for the third place.

Going out in the final group and shooting 66 alongside the No. 1 player in the world when he got the better of me a few weeks ago in Memphis, I think those two things are probably what I’m proudest of,” Rory said.
