Justifying her character ‘Wonder Woman’, Gal Gadot is all about doing wonderful things. She is on a mission of creating a movement that would surely bring good to the world.
For an upcoming project called Impact, the Israeli actress will be seen working behind the camera.
What is ‘Impact’ and when will you be able to see it?
‘Impact’ is a short-form documentary about women from different parts of the world doing extraordinary things. Gal will be spearheading the movement as an executive producer of the project. The six-part series will debut on April 19 on the National Geographic Channel.
The project follows women from Brazil, Michigan, California and Puerto Rico among various other geographies, who overcome obstacles like poverty, violence, oppression and discrimination to achieve extraordinary things.
Is Gal Gadot a Feminist?
Born in a small Israeli town Petah Tikva, Gal was taught “to believe that we’re capable, to value ourselves.” Unlike many American girls, she was told “take a ball and go play”
Gal proudly calls her a feminist and expects everyone to support feminism.
“People always ask me, ‘Are you a feminist?’ And I find the question surprising, because I think, ‘Yes, of course. Every woman, every man, everyone should be a feminist,” Gal stated.
Before starring in the highest-grossing female-directed live-action film, Gal had her share of hardships as a woman in Hollywood. “I’ve had my moments where I’ve felt like men were misbehaving – nothing sexual, but inappropriate in a sexist way. Dismissive. Life wasn’t always rosy and peachy for me as a woman in the world,” said Gal.
‘Impact’ and Gal
The 37 year-old actress has been playing Wonder Woman since 2016 and it was 2017 when she started realizing the influence of her on-screen character on the society.
“My belief system is very close to Wonder Woman’s belief system, I’m all about love and positivity and peace,” she said
Talking about the project ‘Impact’, she applauded the efforts of the women shown in the documentary who overcome the struggles every day to get their hands on what they want.
“I keep calling them my women of wonder because they are the true heroes. I go to set and put on my costume and fight to make believe. But they actually are there on the ground, sweating and doing all they can to make the world a better place,” the actress said on a video call.
