COVID-19: One Man Infected 533 People In This Country, How Did It Happen?

In another shocker from the Coronavirus pandemic, it was recently discovered that one worker spread the infection to 533 of his colleagues.

This makes the record for the highest number of infections caused by one person. Note that, on average one person can infect 2-3 people.

This bizarre case of one person giving the infection to 533 people seems too bizarre and inexplicable. But it is possible.

Earlier today, the President of Ghana announced that a worker at a fish-processing plant infected 533 people, and a total of 921 workers at this particular plant were tested positive.

The factory is located in the port city of Tema, as President Nana Akufo-Addo announced in his public address to the nation.

These infections were reported from a backlog of test samples that were collected from the factory. The President did not give any more information on how the government will tackle the situation.

This surprising turn of events has propelled the number of infections in Ghana to 4,700 while the death toll is still 22.

Meat and fish processing plants are at a high-risk for Coronavirus infections because the workers work in extremely cramped spaces. There is a lot of direct and indirect physical contact involved between them.

Most of the meat is processed by hands as workers cut the meat, separate the bones, shape the slices and chunks and then the same meat is touched and processed by other workers.

It multiplies the chances of spreading infections by a high degree.
