As Frozen 2 hits the theaters this November 22, it aims to be Disney’s most ambitious and spectacular film till date. Everything about this movie takes the level of Disney films a notch higher.
Best thing about Frozen 2 is that it’s not made just for kids, but it has a compelling storyline and interesting characters that the adults would enjoy and appreciate as well.
And perhaps the most compelling part of this film is that we will finally get a confirmation whether Elsa is gay, and would she find a girlfriend in this movie?
Disney promises a gay lead character for the first time in history
Disney has always been quite orthodox in the ways they have made movies, since most of their movies revolve around a rich prince, a princess who is nothing more than a damsel in distress, and an evil monster or villain.
Frozen broke the norm, and now Frozen 2 is breaking more barriers as it promises to introduce a gay lead character that will be a first in the history of Disney.
What’s the story of Frozen 2?
In the story, Elsa is finally ruling as the Queen as people of Arendelle are living happily and safely. Anna is still the same, having fun and exploring new things everyday. Kristoff and Sven are facing new challenges everyday of trying to keep up with the royal life.
Elsa begins to hear a mysterious voice and her kingdom falls into danger. Then she follows the voice to ensure the safety of her people. That’s where she comes across a dark and terrible secret that changes everything.
Frozen 2 deals with questions like:
- How did Elsa get her powers?
- What happened to Elsa and Anna’s parents?
- Why can’t anyone go into the enchanted forests?
- What’s in the dark seas beyond the forest?
Animation in Frozen 2 is so good, it makes live-action movies look bad
Since Disney is sure that Frozen 2 will cross the $1 billion mark, they amped up the production budget for the movie which shows in the animation. The photorealistic animation of the ocean and water, along with a particular scene with a horse made of water is so stunning that even live-action movies will fail to keep up with it.
Another great element in the movie is its message, where it talks about harmony between humans and nature, and highlights political conflicts that are part of every society.
Is Elsa gay? Will she be getting a girlfriend?
When Frozen’s song “Let It Go” had come out, the LGBT community immediately adopted it as their anthem. The lyrics of the song like “Couldn’t keep it in, heaven knows I’ve tried” and “Conceal, don’t feel, don’t let them know,” indicated that Elsa was a lesbian character and everybody has been vouching for it ever since.
Idina Menzel, who plays Elsa, has always said that she would love it if Elsa had a girlfriend.
Although the director Jennifer Lee said she has had “tons of conversations” about giving Elsa a female love interest in the movie, but she also said that Elsa has a lot to deal with in the movie, with her kingdom being at the brink of war and whatnot.
And they don’t want Elsa to defined just by her sexual orientation, saying that Elsa has much more to her character than just being gay.
There is a mysterious character Twitter can’t stop talking about
People keep asking who is this girl who appears in the trailer, and Kristen Bell who plays Anna, just said “Hmmmmm..” giving rise to more questions.
