A food marketing employee went viral on social media for explaining what different ‘color patches’ on snacks signify.
By the way, have you ever wondered what multi-colored circles or boxes on crisps and chocolate bar wrappers actually mean?
Well, TikToker Sonya Gonzalez Mier finally addressed your curiosity. When a guy asked Sonya what colors on his Takis chips meant? She explained it and shared the video on TikTok.
In the video clip, she explained how they are called ‘color control patches’ and are used when the packaging is being printed.
“I work in food marketing and we have these color patches on all our packaging,” she said.
“No, they’re not barcodes, no they’re not a mysterious sign.
“They are color control patches, we need them because the colors that you see on the packaging are not actually the colors that we’re printing. Let me explain…
“To choose the colors that you see on the packaging, we actually layer colors and the color patches are the colors we are layering on top of each other to achieve the colors you see.
“To make sure the colors are correct, we look at the color control patches and if they’re slightly off, we know that the whole packaging will be off.”
“Another day, another marketing mystery solved,” she added
The video has already been watched by about 27,000 viewers and got over 2700 likes.
Sonya has also been thanked by many people who found the fact interesting and useful.
