What Happens When Somebody Dies On a Plane?

Ever wondered what happens when somebody dies on a plane?

No? That’s okay! And totally normal! (That you never thought about it)

A woman who claims to be a flight attendant often appears on other people’s podcasts and shared the answer to the question we just asked, and that it’s beyond terrifying.

On  @oplpodcast, TikTok stars Joe Santagato and Greg Dybec shared the video with an answer and garnered millions of views and over 700K likes.

Chatting to these hosts, the woman revealed that it’s unfortunate to see the crew keeping the body onboard. Moreover, what they put back in their seat.

They stated: “The thing that always freaks me out is that we have to put them back in their seat.

“And, we have to recline the seat a bit and put a blanket all up to their neck, so we cannot cover their face.

“So, if it’s a full flight and the person next to you has a heart attack and we can’t move anyone, you have a dead person with you until we land.”

One of the hosts asked: “And you just have to make it look like they’re sleeping?”

The caller replied: “If someone says ‘is the person next to me dead?’ you have to say ‘it appears so'”.

As one of the hosts then pointed out, that is ‘super weird’.

They said: “That is terrifying – I mean – that has unlocked a new fear of mine now because usually, it’s just like – you know – turbulence and stuff like that. That unlocks a new thing for me”.

Since being posted, the video has racked up more than 600,000 likes and 7,000 comments.

While some people admitted they’d be a little freaked out, others said they “don’t really see the problem.”

One viewer said: “Well. That’s brand new anxiety unlocked right there.”

“Honestly I don’t really see the problem with sitting next to a dead person,” said another. “I’d probably be inclined to hold their hand so that they’re not alone,” said another

Another person disagreed and said: “That’s not true!!! We move the person to the gallery or next to the door. We never leave the person on the seat next to passengers.”

And another put: “What airline is this because I promise you I was not taught this in cabin crew.”

Another viewer shared: “WAIT WAIT WAIT. Is she saying…. this happens regularly?!!!”

Someone else commented: “Does the airline pay for the therapy that person will probably need? Good lord.”
