Sonu Sood Responds To Temple Build In His Honour By Telangana Locals: ‘Don’t Deserve This’

People of Dubba Tanda village in Telangana have dedicated a temple dedicated to Bollywood actor Sonu Sood to honour his work and philanthropic gestures during the COVID-19 pandemic. The temple, replete with an idol of Sood was inaugurated on Sunday.

When Was The Temple Inugarated?

An idol of Sonu Sood has been installed in the temple that was inaugurated on December 20 in the presence of the sculptor and locals of the village, news agency ANI reports. Women dressed up in traditional attire and performed aarti, and also sang folk songs in honour of Sonu Sood.

“As he has attained the place of God by his good deeds, we have built a temple for Sonu Sood. He is a God for us,” Giri Kondal Reddy, a Zilla Parishad member, told ANI.

Ramesh Kumar, who was part of a group that planned the temple, said that prayers will be offered to Sonu Sood in the temple.

“The way Sonu Sood has been helping people since the lockdown due to the pandemic has not just been recognised by India but the world. He received SDG Special Humanitarian Action Award by the United Nations. So, on behalf of our village, we decided to build a temple for him. Like Gods, prayers will be offered to Sonu Sood too,” he said.

Madhusudan Pal, the sculptor, added, “The actor has made a place in people’s hearts with his helpful nature. I have also created a small idol of him as a gift for him.”

Soun’s Response

After learning about the temple, the actor today took to Twitter to say that he feels humbled but he doesn’t deserve it.

What Did Sonu Sood Do For People During The Lockdown?

Amid the coronavirus lockdown in May, people from states including Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka tweeted to Sonu Sood asking for help and the actor promptly responded to almost every person on the micro-blogging platform and assured them of his assistance.

He arranged buses for migrants after obtaining special permissions from respective state governments. Apart from sending migrants home, Sonu Sood also launched a food initiative and donated 1500 PPE kits to doctors across Punjab.

Over the past few months, Sonu Sood has offered help in various fields. He provided smartphones to children in a remote Haryana village school for their online classes. In September, he facilitated a brain tumor surgery of a woman in Assam.

Sonu Sood has appeared in the films Jodhaa Akbar, Dabangg, Happy New Year, Kung Fu Yoga and Simmba
