This Medicine Finally Got Approved For COVID-19 Treatment, Will You Be Able To Afford It?

After months of uncertainty, confusion, and stalling – the US regulators have finally approved the medicine that can treat COVID-19 patients in hospitals.

Branded as Veklury, this medicine can cut down your recovery time by five days and help you recover at an amazingly fast rate. But the greed of the pharma companies is insatiable, and most of us won’t be able to afford it.

It can help you heal and recover faster than anything

Also known as Remdesivir, this drug has shown revolutionary results in COVID-19 treatment. Doctors have already been using it to treat severely ill Coronavirus patients. While the usual recovery time from COVID-19 is about 11 days, taking Remdesivir can reduce it to 5 days.

Now the FDA from the US has approved the medicine for use.

“The drug was approved on Thursday for use in adult and paediatric patients 12 years of age and older and weighing at least 40 kilograms (about 88 pounds) for the treatment of Covid-19 requiring hospitalisation”.

But on the other hand, the World Health Organization (WHO) has been saying that this medicine has no effect on the health or survival of Coronavirus patients.

This is how much you’ll need to pay for it

WHO says that their own studies show that Remdesivir is completely useless, but the drug company Gilead rejected it and said that their own studies show that their own medicine works. Of course, why wouldn’t it work considering that they have to sell the medicine.

The price for Remdesivir is skyrocketing. For the citizens of the USA, it will cost $3,120 even if you have private insurance. Even for the government purchasers, it will cost $2,340. While manufacturing cost for this medicine for a single day’s course is $0.93.

So we just need to look at how much higher the cost the Americans need to pay even if they have insurance. This is precisely what happens under Capitalism, and while the Americans could have had Medicare for All if only more of them supported Bernie Sanders but obviously they chose Joe Biden and Donald Trump – under both of these corporate-paid politicians, there is no medicare for all.
