Lorenz Gramann talks about his experience as the director and editor of the Findhorn Foundation documentary INNER CLIMATE CHANGE, which went online on 24 April 2020.
Implying consciousness to everything that surrounds us he believes, brings light to the darkest of the situations. So, bringing consciousness to what we announced as climate change specifically sparked his curiosity and excitement – and hope for our timid culture.
The Climate Change Conference
The CLIMATE CHANGE & CONSCIOUSNESS conference held at the Findhorn Foundation provided a perfect platform to explore the many different dimensions of this umbrella term ‘climate change’. With 350 experts and activists from over 45 countries to learn from and experience with, it was a no-brainer for Lorenz to gratefully accept the offer of the Findhorn Foundation to create a film based on the insights and processes during the conference. Little did he know where the making of the documentary INNER CLIMATE CHANGE would lead him to the innate being over the course of one year.
The Inner And Outer Change
His insights into climate change came from his personal experiences with people and their characteristics; how do people navigate the intensity of emotions and reactions and how do people come in touch with peace, compassion and forgiveness?
He also asked a keynote speaker to share about their own inner journey and experiences with climate change, more so opposed to the outer journey towards the concept. This was risky terrain and not only for the well known people in public’s eye. Every filmmaker has those moments of weakness where they have to censor part which they are vulnerable to. It is very hard to be completely honest about the inner challenges and questions.
Almost every person he came across offered him a level of openness and willingness to share their stories from the most intimate and authentic place within themselves was humbling and profoundly moving. You will feel this when you watch the documentary. These inner journeys with the outer climate emergency helps to see their correlation.
The director experiences a change within during his journey of feeling what people experienced during their journey to working on inner climate change and to take 100% responsibility on perceiving what is on the outside. The world changes as we change our perception and not the visa versa.
Director’s Take-Away
When Lorenz Grammam finds himself judging something or someone he calls upon for finding this aspect within himself. Up to now he had always found it. From this, springs compassion and forgiveness and his relationship to the adversary changes for the better.
He regained hope from the experience that whenever he has mentioned the term Inner Climate Change, people of all ilk seem to get the idea intuitively and are interested. As this enters mainstream awareness there is a good prospect for a new relationship with each other and our marvellous planet.
