Bill Gates’ eldest daughter Jennifer Gates just announced that she is getting engaged to a man named Nayel Nassar. As it turns out, Bill Gates’ son-in-law has quite an interesting history that’s attracting attention globally – but it is piquing the Americans in particular.
Born to multi-millionaire parents, Nayel Nassar was brought up in Kuwait. He is an Egyptian showjumper and will be participating in the Olympics 2020 team.

On late Wednesday, Jennifer Gates said yes to Nassar “a million times over”
The proposal took place when the couple was out for a skiing trip where Nassar popped the question.
Jennifer wrote on Instagram: “Nayel Nassar, you are one of a kind. Absolutely swept me off my feet this past weekend, surprising me in the most meaningful location over one of our many shared passions,”
She also added “can’t wait to spend the rest of our lives learning, growing, laughing and loving together.”

Bill Gates and Melinda Gates responded to the announcement, saying that they were thrilled for the couple.
Kaley Cuoco of the “The Big Bang Theory” commented on Jennifer Gates’ post and congratulated her.
Jennifer and Nassar have been dating since 2016
According to the People magazine, Nayel Nassar was born in Chicago, but brought up in Kuwait. He relocated to US in 2009, and got a degree from the Stanford University in 2013. Jennifer Gates also studied from Stanford, graduating in 2018 with a degree in human biology.
Jennifer and Nassar have been dating since 2016, and in 2017 he even took her to his home in Kuwait to show her a glimpse of his childhood life.
Nassar helped Egypt qualify for the Olympics for the first time in 60 years
In October, Nassar helped the Egyptian team qualify for the Tokyo Olympics 2020. It will be the first time in last 60 years that the Egyptian showjumper team will be a part of the Olympics.
What’s the future like for Jennifer Gates and Nayel Nassar?
The couple plans to travel the world to pursue their passion for horse showjumping, but their home base will be New York till 2023. Jennifer is currently pursuing medical school, and Bill Gates has bought her a condo worth $5 million near the campus for her.
As Bill Gates had already declared a long time ago that he won’t be leaving his billions of dollars for his children – instead, he plans to “donate to charity” after he dies. He only plans to leave them a safety net, as he says that he has already given a good education to his children and that should be enough to help them in the world out there.
