The COVID-19 is perhaps one of the greatest pandemics unleashed upon human population, and while the death toll is still lower than many wars and even the Black Plague of Europe – no disaster has ever affected the entire world on such a large scale before.
Apart from killing people directly, it has caused a severe economic crisis for common people where they have been out of jobs and money.
Another terrifying aspect of this pandemic is that there is a severe food crisis that it’s bringing since most of the agriculture, farming, and food production has stopped now, and we are only surviving on old stocks until they are depleted.
In the midst of all this, the COVID-19 keeps showing up with new symptoms nearly every week. CDC and WHO have compiled a final list of all the symptoms that you should be careful of:
#1. Fever
Top symptom is still the old-fashioned fever where the body temperature rises above the normal. Almost 88% infected with Coronavirus show the symptoms of fever.
So be cautious when you suddenly find yourself catching a fever, you might need to check out for other symptoms as well as isolate yourself as quickly as you can.
#2. Coughing
68% of the total infected patients reported dry coughing, and this could be a very definite sign that you might have COVID-19.
Winter is over, and catching a cough in the month of April and May could mean that it’s very likely that you might be infected.
#3. Difficulty in breathing, shortness of breath
Since COVID-19 affects mostly the upper respiratory system, starting from your nose and throat to your lungs – difficulty in breathing is a certain sign of infection if you have never experienced it before.
This is another reason why allergic people along with patients of asthma are at a great risk of getting dangerously sick with COVID-19 infection.
#4. Losing sense of smell and taste
A bizarre symptom was reported from Italy, and then confirmed from studies all over the world. People suddenly lost their sense of smell and they couldn’t smell even if they were cooking and frying food.
Their sense of taste was lost as well, as they reported that food begun to “taste like bland ash.” This was reported in 18%-35% cases.
#5. Chills and shaking
Commonly associated as the symptoms of Malaria, repeated shaking with chills running over body is also a symptom for Coronavirus infection. And this could mean that you have a strong strain of virus in your system.
#6. Sore throat
As written earlier, getting a sore throat in the hotter months of April and May could be a dangerous sign of viral infection. Make sure to get yourself checked if this happens.
#7. Headache and body pain
A sudden headache that you can’t explain, and if it’s not because of stress or depression or overwork, then it could be a worrying sign. Along with headache, people also experience muscle pains, joint paints and different kinds of pains in different parts of their bodies.
#8. Diarrhoea and vomiting
It’s now confirmed that Coronavirus is affecting heart and liver and even digestive system of people, and it’s not just limited to lungs. So it has the capacity to upset your body functions.
If you haven’t eaten anything bad and still you find yourself having diarrhea or vomitting, then it could be a sign of COVID-19 infection. Please consult the rest of the list to see if you have any other symptoms that match.
#9. Skin rashes
People in Canada, and then in US and Europe have reported another bizarre symptom. They had found unusual and inexplicable skin rashes on their toes and fingertips.
It was considered to be a rare symptom earlier, but by now almost 38% people among the infected have reported having rashes.
#10. Tiredness
It could seem like a mundane symptom but it is a strong indicator of your health in these times. Since Coronavirus takes over your cellular system and uses your cells to make copies of itself – the body cells are no longer able to create proteins and other materials needed to keep you running smoothly.
If you feel tired for no reason, this could be a stark sign. Check the list to see if your have any other symptoms that match.
