A gas station in Russia thought of a clever publicity stunt, but apparently it backfired to cause a series of hilarious events. The Olvi gas station in Samara, Russia announced that they would give free fuel to anyone who’d show up to the station in a bikini.
The move backfired as something unexpected happened and the station was forced to stop their offer within 3 hours only.
350 men showed up to the station, dressed in bikinis
Apparently, the loophole in the gas station’s offer was that they didn’t specify that they wanted “only women” to wear bikinis.
Other people at the station enjoyed this moment very much as they clicked plenty of pics:
Some people even criticized the whole event, calling it downgrading – but some others saw this as a perfect opportunity to answer the gas agency which had thought of this objectification-based offer in the first place.
Men and women both rushed to the station, and there was a long queue of people waiting to get their tanks filled.
Men even added high heels to their tiny bikinis
Soon the news of this event went viral around the world, but it turns out that one station in Ukraine had also tried to do the same publicity stunt. And even there was a mixed crowd of men and women dressed in bikinis and high heels.
Newsworthy element of this whole event is that while the gas station may or may not have garnered the publicity they wanted, there are some happy people who got fuel for free – and they also managed to show, although inadvertently, that men can rock bikinis when they want to.
