Initially a relatively small group, the Avengers have included many heroes with vastly different power levels. Some of these powerful Avengers have been with the group since its inception. Other members were recently introduced and helped defeat some of the group’s most dangerous foes.
1. Thor
Thor is enhanced with Avengers:
End game.
Blessed with divine power and longevity, Thor was arguably the most powerful member of the first version of the Avengers. Not only could he fly and transport between worlds, but he was also the only one who could defeat Thanos, even after assembling all six Infinity Stones.
Thor’s power continues to grow, often requiring a weapon to channel it, but only sometimes, and his arrival is enough to turn the tide of virtually any battle.
2. Scarlet Witch
At the end of the Multiverse of Madness, Wanda is so powerful that she’s the only one who can self-destruct. Wanda’s powers grow and grow with her time in the MCU. She can take over and brainwash an entire city or take on a whole army of wizards with little trouble.
But even before her Wanda went terrible, she was one of the few heroes to match Thanos’ powers, so Thanos had to summon her distractions to protect her from them.

3. Iron Man
Tony Stark invented time travel, and that certainly counts for something. In addition to being one of the brightest minds alive, Iron Man benefits from technology. He can’t beat Thanos, but he comes terrifyingly close to a mortal in fancy armour. Iron Man is an ordinary super-intelligent man who regularly faces intergalactic threats. Thankfully, his immense intelligence is often enough to level the playing field.
4. Hulk
Not only is Hulk unkillable, but he’s also powerful, and when Bruce Banner can control him, he’s brilliant. Even if he spends at least as much harm doing good as he does good, he becomes an integral member of the Avengers. He may not be able to defeat Thanos, but against most other foes, Hulk is good enough to emerge victorious in the end.
5. Doctor Strange
Even after losing the Time Stone, Doctor Strange is still mighty. His skills as a wizard make him a formidable opponent. As such, the villains he faces are often orders of magnitude stronger than anyone else.
Thanos is probably the greatest villain he’s faced, and while he couldn’t defeat him directly, he was pretty close, even after Thanos had already shaken four of his six stones.
