World is full of irony and contradictions. The meaning of irony is when you expect something to happen but the exact opposite thing happens, sometimes it is hilarious and sometimes just knocks our socks off.
We bring you ten examples of irony that will show you the unexpected humour of real life:
#1. He made a dating site, his girlfriend found another man on the same site
Gary Kremen, the founder of Match.com, was very excited about his new website and he even made his girlfriend join it. Then she met another man on Match.com and broke up with Gary Kremen.
#2. Guinness Book got sued by the record-holder of lawsuits
Jonathan Lee Riches made the world record for suing the largest the number of people. When Guinness Book of World records put his name in their book, he sued the book, saying that the Guinness “has no right to publish my work, my legal masterpieces.”
#3. Pharrell Williams got fired from McDonalds three times, had the last laugh
Pharrell Williams used to work for McDonalds and they fired him three times from three different jobs he worked for them. Many years later, he wrote and produced McDonalds’ iconic jingle “I’m Lovin’ It.”
#4. Survived Niagra Falls, got killed by an orange peel
Bobby Leach was the first man in human history to survive going over the Niagra Falls in a barrel. Later, he died after slipping on an orange peel and broke his leg.
#5. Duct tape is not for ducts
Duct tape has millions of uses, in fact, it was once used in the Apollo 13 spacecraft to make temporary repairs and bring it safely to Earth from the moon orbit. But despite what the name says, duct tape is completely useless for sealing ducts.
#6. Most stolen book in the world is The Bible
While The Bible tells the believers to not steal and be righteous, the most shoplifted book in the world is The Bible. Ironical, since you’d expect religious people to actually adhere to their beliefs – but again, religion and logic have never had a connection.
